New Dimension 4700 on the way, looking to bump the memory up to 1gig.

Crucial lists:
256MB ? CT402794 DDR2 PC2-3200 NON-ECC UNBUFFERED US $68.99 (each)
? DDR2 PC2-3200 ? CL=3 ? UNBUFFERED ? NON-ECC ? DDR2-400 ? 1.8V ? 32Meg x 64
Newegg backs up this pricing..

Now I see the following at MWAVE (reputable place right?):
BA20344 CRUCIAL / MICRON 256MB PC3200 400MHZ DDR2 DIMM Details $45.00
# Module Size: 256MB
# Package: 240-pin DIMM
# Feature: DDR2 PC2-3200
# Configuration: 32Meg x 64
# DIMM Type: UNBUFFERED
# Error Checking: NON-ECC
# Speed: DDR2-400
# Voltage: 1.8V

So what am I missing? How can MWAVE sell it that cheap?

Because you are buying directly from the manufacturer when you buy from Crucial. Its just like cars, the most expensive place to get any kind of basic service done is the dealer.

Just a thought; if they purchased a ton of those modules and wanted to move them by knocking the price way down, it might also stimulate shoppers to add other items to their carts during the transaction. I know I'm guilty of buying more than I originally intended if I feel I got a great buy. I suppose it's a marketing gamble on their part...

cheers,
