The problem I have with buying now has nothing to do with money. I am worried that DDR is either in a transitional stage or it is transitional in and of itself. I would buy PC2400, but what will newer motherboards use? With PC133 you could have used the same stick since it came out until now and beyond. I would only but 256MB of DDR now, unless you actually need more. I have found that with 128 I run low on resources, with 256 I always have about 40MB free whether I am running nothing or running everthing, windows sucks it up. With 512 I don't notice any increase, windows just throws more stuff in there, which could be good but is hard to notice. I am no ram expert, but I never buy loads of it at atime, because tech changes too frequently. will prices go down? Probably. will they decrease enough to make you pissed that you paid a whopping 60 for the crucial 256? I doubt it sincerely. Sure, buy a stick of PC2100 for $56 and be happy, and don't worry if it isn't the intention of the silicon gods to keep PC2100 DDR in mind in the future. Good upgrading to all!
