Should I purchase the Crucial Ballistix PC-3200 cl2 or PC-4000 cl 2.5 for my new system? I will be running a Athlon 64 3000+ and a Epox EP-8KDA3J, I do plan on doing some medial overclocking.

PC3200 CL2, of course.

The A64 isn't that great of an over-clocker and there is no reason buying PC4000 unless you plan on running 1:1.

I'd just grab the 3200. I run 1:1 with my PC4000 its pretty nice. But the RAM I have is also only ~$100 per 512 MB so it didn't cost an arm an a leg.

1:1 ram/fsb ratio. But good pc3200 like that should reach at least 220/230fsb anyway (that would make 2.2/2.3ghz on your a64)

I read this review on Newegg:

"this board is one of the best board i ever used. soltek and newegg are the real deal. to the guy down there, yes you can buy other boards that has option for higher V , FSb but the thing is none will do any OC at defult V like this board.
i can do 250X10 @ default everything with 1:1 mem.
the guy who is doing 280 is useing clockgen . hop on amdmb board and see the screen shots of his OC.
newegg best place to spend your money. "

If the Ballistix PC-4000 is the one to buy for 1:1 memory then I would like to do a Soltek Crucial PC4000 combo.

I'm just ordered 1GB Ballistix PC4000. I have a sneaking suspicion the same Micron chips are being used for the PC3200 and PC4000.

Reviews of Ballistix PC3200 indicate it can do 450FSB+ with relaxed timings; and reviews of Ballistix PC4000 indicate it operates at 400FSB with 2-2-2 timings. Gotta be the same chips, with different SPD settings programmed.

Man, this stuff looks promising!!
