crucial 9100 vs. sappire radeon 9500 pro?

Has anyone heard anything about the crucial 9100? I'm building a system:

and it's primary purpose will be for video production and web development. I've seen lots of great reviews for the radeon 9500 pro, but it's almost twice as the crucial 9100. Any advice on which card is a better value?

(Also, I'm not really into gaming, although I wouldn't rule it out entirely 🙂

Since you don't game much, unless you can find a deal on a 9500 pro, 9100 will suffice for your needs. It's basically a 8500 in a new package.

I do not concur. My Crucial 9700 Pro has 2.8ms BGA memory (as I think they all do from Crucial). It is 100% stable and overclocks very well.

i was reffering to 8500, which i would imagine would be a 9100 also.

the chips are the same Micron stuff that Crucial uses on their RAM, these with a rating of 6ns.

The Crucial 9100 uses very slow memory--166MHz rather than the usual 200-250MHz. I wouldn't buy a 9100 for gaming with memory slower than 250MHz. Look into a 9000 Pro as an alternative to a 9100 with memory slower than 230MHz.

If gaming's not a concern, there's no need to splurge for a 9500P. Heck, you can get by with a ~$50 64MB Radeon 9000 or GF4MX 440.
