Crucial 512MB PC2100 stick; Micron, Infineon or Samsung chips

If you had a choice of chips to get in a Crucial 512MB PC2100 stick, what chips would you get and why?

Choices are:
Micron
Infineon
Samsung

Especially if you are looking to OC the entire system, then what chipset?

Thanks🙂

My choices would be: first, infineon; second, micron; third, samsung.

I base this heirarchy on their respective previous overclocking potentials. 😉

I've got 2 sticks of Crucial 512Mb with the Infineon chips. Other than the fact that they won't overclock past 305Mhz, it's great RAM.

Of course you mean 305MHz DDR, 152.5MHz SDR. 😉

I figured that because we're talking about D(ouble)DR RAM people would know what I was talking about.🙂

My mushkin Ram has always been Infineon. Ram I use now is Siemens with Infineon If I remember. The worst chips I used was Elixer.

I just got my new stick of Crucial which have Infineon chips rated at 7ns so it seems that 1/7*1000 = 142 MHz sounds about right though a recent GamePC article was able to get to 399MHz DDR.

I am usually partial to MICRON memory ...
1) they normally test the best
2) the parts are AMERICAN

in this case ... however ...

having tested several PC-2700/DDR 333 parts ...
I found the SAMSUNG parts to be the most "forgiving"/compatible with the test equipment

If you can, choose the Samsung parts
(even though what you are talking about is PC-2100 parts)

If I had a choice regardless of price, then I would go with Infineon. Reason: OVerclocking.

If price were a factor, then I would go with cheapest one.

I have a Crucial 256 stick and a 256 Samsung stick ( PC2100 DDR )

Both running at cas2 and fsb at 145..

No problems with either stick
