DDR ram is twice as fast as standard PC133 SDRAM and has half the access time =) It's the next big thing!

its twice as fast, but its not backward compatable and you nead a new motherboard, but its not realy expencive either. so the question is, is it worth the wait?

SimonSays,

The AMD 760 chipset is the new chipset that will support DDR ram, but there were some errors in the chipset so it's been delayed again by AMD. You should see thesemotherboards available by December 15 at the latest. If you don't want to wait, my roommate just got the KT7-raid board, VERY nice.

If I look at the 128 or 256 meg DIMMS, there's like 5 different CAS-2 modules for each. What's the difference?

Update: I was prepared to order at $186, and return the $202 dimm I bought saturday, but upon refreshing my browser the price shot up to $197 and the order box has been replaced with *call. I have not yet decided wether to keep my $202 memory or return it, since I still have to pay shipping on my current order. Unless it drops below $182 it's not worth the trouble.

I just tried ordering 256 cas 2 and when I used the 15% button, halfway through the order it changed to 10%. I called and first got the runaround. Then spoke to a supervisor and she pointed me to this link

and the order went through at 15%. Shipping only $10 for next day too.

remember if you do decide to buy from them, that you might have to pay tax which isnt shown on the order. I bought it when it was 135, but the tax was 11.22 so that mostly killed the deal for me. However for me it isnt all for loss, I LOVE AMEX's Blue's BEST VALUE GUARANTEE!!! Since it is now like 86, I can pricematch it like 2 months later...I think overall i am gonna get about 400-500 back just because of the Amex best value guarantee. too bad they are gonna change the policy next month.
