Obviously you don't have a lot of experience with Crucial memory. Its among the best, excellent lifetime warranty and support, guaranteed compatibility and easily overclocked. I run mine at CAS 2 with no problems. I'd buy this over PNY or Kingston any day and with my 10% off coupon I picked up a stick for $24.00. I really doubt it will get much cheaper than this but who knows!

What's the ns rating? CAS?
Anyone with experience running these current? modules o'c?

CAS2.5 PC2100 memory isn't THAT good a deal at $30, it'll be crazy dropping in price soon with rebates on Kingston, PNY, etc, and if you can then work a deal with a coupon.......

Obviously you don't have a lot of experience with memory in general and are prone to believing hype and FUD more than logically assessing memory.

Crucial memory is a good safe bet when running at spec'd speed, but these particular modules aren't necessarily "among the best" IF it's packaged as CAS2.5 PC2100. If you need >PC2100 memory there's no good argument to buying Crucial PC2100 that really IS low-binned chips marked down to be PC2100 and then overclocking them, UNLESS you have enough information to conclude that these modules are in fact capable of your target speed.

If you're buying locally you don't need the guaranteed compatiblity so much because you have an extra layer of protection, can return the memory to a local B&M. It's not a bad deal if you need PC2100, but I still stand behind my remark that it's not the great deal it would've been in the past. As industry-wide chip densities increase and all production is shifted towards DDR, memory WILL get cheaper, even from Crucial.

Best Buy Appleton, WI OOS. Until I watched 2 customers that were "friends" of employees walk out with 2 sticks each. I walked into the store at the same time as 1 person and I immediately went for the RAM. :(

In even asked if any were on hold and was told no, they just didn't have any, but they were willing to sell me a 512 stick for $150.00.

I will just continue to purchase from Crucial directly, less aggravation.

Pretty good deal for those that got in on it though.

Bump for Crucial 2100!

I got two sticks of 256mb, and it runs at CAS 2 without a flaw. Others clock it to 166mhz/2700 at CAS 2.5 flawlessly, and still others do higher speeds, up to 175. Very high quality stuff.

Whats OBVIOUS is that you are here THREAD CRAPPING. If you don't like the memory deal post then move on! It's rare to see Crucial memory avilable for this price and YOU are only speculating on future memory prices. Obviously nobody really knows. I only need PC2100 memory and don't plan on overclocking. Some people enjoy stable systems.

GOODBYE!

LOL.
If it's thread-crapping to ask EXACTLY what we're getting for our $, then commenting about a situation that might not make this as good a deal, then I'm guilty as charged.

Of course it's rare to see this Crucial memory at this price, and months ago it was rare to see it at $40, $50, $60, etc, etc.

I do know that PC2100 memory prices are going down, it is happening now and the market can't bear the higher prices. I could speculate that the sun will rise tomorrow too. ;)

If YOU only need PC2100, are "keen" on Crucial, will never want to reuse your memory at good >=PC2700 timings (and want to stock up on small 256MB modules) then this IS a fair deal for you or anyone with same needs, though the odds are pretty good that you could've saved $10 by buying the same memory that rasputinj did... I have some Kingston PC2100 that also o'c to past PC2700 speeds, though today it would make more sense to buy >=PC2700 spec'd parts.

I am "keen" on Crucial because over the years I have had no memory issues when I use their products unlike some generic brands.
