CRTs

On my second pc I'm using an old CRT for whatever downloading, ect.. I may be doing. I currently have the resolution set to 1280x960 which is the max it can put out (17in CRT). Does the resolution at this setting have an adverse affect on life span? I've noticed some problems with it already, half screens, or it only shows the bottom half then the top begins to fill out eventually. If the screen is going, will lowernig the resolution help it out? Or should I just relocate it to my local dump and get a new one?

Lower bandwidth (resolution X refresh rate) can help make the picture clearer. But if it can't handle that resolution I think you should replace it.
