OK, I've tried to get an asnwer from folks in a couple other forums here but I cant get a firm answer.
The main working space of my apartment that I keep AC'ed is ~450 sq. feet. Cooling this area are 3 5000K BTU window AC's. The problem is that because I have so many heat outputting devices in this area, my AC is basically getting worthless. Between 2 TV's, 3 monitors, 6 computers, a mini-fridge, and assorted other small appliances, my AC can barely keep up. I can tell most of this comes from my monitors + computers. I cant do too much about the computers, they are as cool-running as I can get them.
The monitors, however, might be a different story. When on they are fairly hot to the touch, and I suspect they put out a more heat than my CPU's do. Do LCD's offer any advantage over CRT's in this aspect? Also, because every single appliance in this working area is on one circuit (yes, :Q ) I'm frequently having power problems. Would LCD's significantly cut down the power consumption compared to my 15", 17", and 19"?
Please, no suggestions to turn them off or use a KVM. I need to run the computers concurrently and have multiple monitors, and I already use a KVM to share one of the monitors with 3 of the computers.
