CRT Flat Screen problem

I just received a CRT for a little system I am putting together. I have nver used a Flat screen before, i sort of went from Generic, straight over to flat pannel LCD's. This monitor, when first turned on, needs to take around 20 minutes before the picture will fit on screen. Yes, i can adjust it before the 20 minutes, but then the picture would be to small...

Is it normal for some CRTs to need a warm up period, or is this monitor on its way out?
 
All CRT monitors do have *some* distortion when they first start up (especially shadow mask models, since the mask expands slightly as it is heats up). But it shouldn't be *that* bad. If it's a new monitor, I'd see if you can exchange it. If it's an older one, and it works fine after the warmup period, I wouldn't worry about.

In any case, you should do color/geometry adjustments after a monitor has been on for a little while, and if you are doing precise graphics work, you should let it warm up before you start using it.
 
Its a viewsonic E70f+, and its about a year old now. It also seems like it "stretches" in a 3 inch section on the top, and on the bottom, around a few inches in from the left side. In fact, now that i really take a look at it, It seems that down where all the tabs are for programs running on the taskbar, that there not 90 degree angled very much, they are all a bit slanted, favoring whatever end of the monitor is closest. It kinda reminds me if you set the pincusion to as FAT as it would go, and it would kinda stretch angles to much, yet the sides of the screen isnt fat at all, cause im not stretching it.

Its not really to major, and the monitor was free so i dont think the user is going to complain. Thanks guys.
