I got this monitor used from my girlfriend's dad.. it works great but I have no idea what the Moire, Converge, and Purity controls do to it... I couldn't find anything on the monitor even on the company's website. I'd like to know how those 3 controls work and what they do.

I have the resolution set at 1280 x 1024.

H = 64.0 KHz
V = 60.0 Hz

Thanks,
Ian

It's usually under Control Panels/Display/Settings/"Advanced..." somewhere, but what's in there varies based on what video card and drivers you have installed.

As for your original question:

'Convergence' is an adjustment for convergence! (duh! :p) Think of it like adjusting the focus on a projector; you can use it to tweak the focus of the electron guns, which is helpful if you have a slightly fuzzy picture on part or all of the screen.

'Moire' is usually some sort of compensation for moire patterns, which are ring-shaped sampling interference patterns you can get if you try to display things that are really detailed on a low-dot-pitch monitor. I've never found it particularly effective on monitors that have it.

'Purity' I'm clueless about. My best guess would be something to tweak color temperatures, but I really don't know.

I set the refresh rate to 85Hz. I had it at 100Hz, but I could hear it... so I went to 85. Is that adequate?

H - 91.0
V - 85.3

I also tried anything over 100... the screen starts to scroll down, so 100 is the max, and it makes noise... 85 should be enough right?

I know people who are fine with 60, although it drives me nuts. I run mine at 85, because my monitor's a little blurry at 100Hz@1280x1024 and higher. As long as it's high enough that the flicker doesn't bother you, you should be fine.

Hrmm, I didn't notice any flickering... anything over 100 and the screen goes black haha. But if you guys are happy with 85, I'm happy with 85.

Any reason as to why the monitor may change horizontal and vertical dimensions? I notice it's different everytime I turn the pc on... it did it on my other pc as well... could it just be from average use? It's not big deal, but having to reset it every day isn't as handy as not having to.

like major changing?

sometimes monitors' dimensions are slightly different when you turn the monitor on.
not sure why, but it shouldn't be too major...
seems like for me they would stop at some point. then maybe do it once in a while

Not like major... it'll either tilt the screen forward or back a little or stretch up or across by 5 or so pixels... I just don't like seeing the black rim around the screen haha.
