Crown 900 w THX Power Amp 439.99 Shipping $1

This is a pretty good deal, but overstock.com has pretty old models...

FYI, this amp is for loudspeakers...(NO bare wire jacks, input requires large 1/4" mono plugs and outputs are MDP connectors) It'd be more then enough for a good pair of 15" woofer loudspeakers, if you want to daisy up to 2 sets this can handle it, any more you're better off getting this amp so you don't blow the amp...

If you have the need for an amp like this, you can't get much better... It'll most likely outlast your next 50 sets of speakers...

Another option is to find the amp on froogle or yahoo shopping (ie. There's a CE1000 for $374.99 with free shipping), and then call Musician's Friend to pricematch. They're Crown authorized, and I was able to get a Crown K2 an awesome price that way. Great store.

This is a fine professional amp, but remember this not really meant for home use.

This is intended for public address systems, churches, schools, theaters, night clubs and such. It is extremely durable, will last 1000 years, and deliver lots of power.

But if esoteric high fidelity is what you desire, there are better choices.

Of course, they are for home use. 😉

Many people have now started to use pro audio amps for the following applications:

- Powering passive subwoofers in their homes
- Powering the front left and right channels of their speakers

I, personally, am using a pro audio amp to power 2 subs in my family room. The results are very good.

Pro audio is meant for, well proaudio and often sacrafices quality for loudness. Often resulting in high distortion levels and the use fans for cooling, which add noise to the system. Get a passively cooled high quality home theater amp like this, IT WILL KILL THE CROWN. Not a bad price on it either

ATI AT2505 250 Watts x 5 Channel Surround

At 1,250 watts RMS and 110 pounds, the new AT2505 is not your grandma's amp. The AT2505 is the latest in the series of award winning high-power, high-current amps from Amplifier Technologies. This amplifier, at an unbelievably low price, has all the features and value you have come to expect from ATI: massive heat sinks (this is the most powerful amplifier for home theater use that doesn't require noisy/dust collecting fans), a custom-built toroidal transformer, double-sided glass-epoxy circuit boards, fuse-fault indicators, and our unique DMCr Detachable Motor Component architecture.

The AT2505 delivers a whopping FTC 250 watts RMS per channel into 8 Ohms from 20Hz to 20kHz with no more than .03% THD or 375 watts RMS per channel into 4 Ohms from 20Hz to 20kHz with all channels driven simultaneously!

7 year warrenty on this baby too.
