chinese, are you looking to get yourself banned? but cquinn's interpretation is pretty good. this movie, while having action, is meant to get the other person to think. kinda like american beauty. also a good movie.

I can't stand dubbing! Heck, I can't even stand Cantonese movie being dubbed into Manadarin here in Singapore. I rather not watched. Nearly everytime a movie is dubbed, the essence of the acting is lost. :(

Eug,

If you notice that Chow Yun Fatt is Hongkonger, Michelle is/used to be Malaysian, then you will realise that their Mandarin come with accent. China is so big and Chinese are so scattered around the world, you can't expect a standard way of speaking Mandarin.

<< Ever watch dubbed anime, then the original? Dubbed usually sucks. >>

AMEN! the movie i thought was pretty good when i saw it in taipei over the summer. if you can accept the theatrical conventions like the flying, then i think the plot was pretty good. the one thing i liked about chow yun fat (bastardized american name) is that he makes the kung-fu look really good, and he doesn't know any of it. good acting. i admit that i was disappointed at the end, but overall, i thought it was better than a lot of the other american movies i saw this year and last. and yeah, cantonese to mandarin sucks, even if it does make it easier to understand.

i just watched it today. have it on a burned mpeg vcd i made, and well it was decent on an apex dvd player. Didnt matter since i ordered the region free dvd since i liked it so much.

Personally it made a lot of sense. At the end i thought she jumped because when they were in the desert Lo said that whoever jumped off the mountain would get their wish or whatever, and well there was a mountain in the scene when she jumped. Anyways, i figured she had such a chaotic life, since she was just running away from everything and fighting everyone that wanted to help her, and when she finally tries to help someone, li mu bai died.

As for the subtitle thing, it wasn't that bad. Especially if you were in a theatre i'd imagine it wouldn't detract at all. That movie "life is beautiful" was pretty good (well i only saw half since it wasnt in theatres where i lived, and my crappy asf copy was giving me a headache). As for the guy who started this post, who described himself is not being able to appreciate this film for because he's a hick in the midwest. Well i'm not saying thats the reason you are unable to appreciate it, but like some of the others you seriously lack the mental capacity or the imagination to have enjoyed the plot of the movie

poorly at that.

The main redeming feature in CTHD was that it wasn't Titanic in length.

i just saw the movie, and i have to say, it's a breath of fresh air from those typical hollywood movies w/ hollywood endings. oddly enough, i've heard of reviews from asia that they didn't like it (then again, i don't listen to movie critics -- wherever they're from).

if this movie ever came out dubbed, i doubt i would love that version. i've seen too many dubbed movies and their native language counterpart -- it's not the same as the real thing.
