Crosswired versus Straight Through

What's the difference?

I'm connecting two 10/100 ethernet cards to a cable/DSL router.

Which type of CAT-5 cable do I want to buy?

Thanks in advance.

Standard Cat5 or Cat5E. Use the newer Cat5E. Rated to gigabit speeds. The difference in straight and crossed cables is what the name implies. On a crossover cable, two pairs are crosses. 1&3, and 2&6. Crossover used between two NIC's without a hub/switch, or if you need to uplink a hub/switch and it doesn't have an uplink port.
