can somebody please tell me what a crossover is in regard to network cables. I know this is on topic and should be in the network forum, but i need to know urgently, and i won't get a reply in there any time soon. Please somebody reply to this before it gets moved....thx.

but like does it literally cross over cables? meaning say pin 2 and 3 would be crossed...
