i have successfully connected the computers and they see each other but i cannot access the documents on either....I have simple file sharing and remote connection enabled...

My Workgroup name is HOME.

The message i get is "Home is not accessible. You mightn not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator....The network path was not found."

I used the following IP adresses for the desktop and notebook.

192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.3
255.255.255.0 for the subnet mask
192.168.0.1 for the gateway

Try this,

1: Start
2: Run
3: cmd

A command prompt will open.

Type in the following:
net use /delete *

It will prompt you for something, just hit "y" for yes.

Then type in the following:
net use \\ip.address.of.computerb

It might prompt you for user name and password.
Go ahead and enter the appropriate information.
When you are finished, try to access the other computer.
Also, do not forget to allow File and Printer sharing through
firewall settings.
