ok i have a new pc built with 2 4870 512s on crossfire these are my specs:

Windows Vista 64Bit
XCLIO A380BK Fully Black SECC 1.0mm thickness ATX Full Tower Computer Case
ASUS M3A78-T AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
CORSAIR CMPSU-850TX 850W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Active PFC Power Supply
AMD Phenom 2 940 Quad Core CPU @ 3.0 GhZ
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory
2 hard drives 1 Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive and Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST3750330AS 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
ASUS Black 6X Blu-ray DVD-ROM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM SATA Internal Blu-Ray DVD Combo Drive Model

Using a Thermaltake SpinQ Performance Series cooler with ultra-lightweight aluminum and six heatpipes CL-P0466 CPU Cooler to cool my cpu and it looks nice
i also noticed with cpu-z that my memory is showing up as single channel and not dual
and my dram freg is 401.0 MHz i really don't know much about this i though that my memory was supposed to run at 1066
it also shows pc2-6400 instead of pc2-8500

now with the set up i have when i run crossfire my performance is the same as running 1 card i have a 32 inch hdtv and i play the games at 1920x 1080 i tried using only 1 bridge then 2 of them to see if there was any difference and was still the same i tested fallout 3,
crysis warhead, COD 5 and far cry 2 and its the same performance with 1 card as to having 2 , in COD 5 i get 91 FPS in single card and dual config in warhead i get about the same results with 1 or 2 i tried using other drivers but sadly i get errors trying that so using cat 8.12 at the moment i would really want to hear from other PC builders here and see if they get about the same performance with a build that is almost like mine so i can try and see whats my problem ty in advance for your help

Have you checked catalyst control centre to see if both cards are recognised?
Have you checked your BIOS to see if one card is disabled?

ty for your response i greatly apreciated i went to bios and i could not find anything to my understanding to enable a second card but when i look under device manager i see both cards and cat manager shows me crossfirex is enabled i also see the logo when i play my games but since you have the same mobo can you direct me in the right direction?
also do you have a crossfire set up? and whats your performance with your games in FPS?

i am running CrossfireX-3

just reinstall the latest drivers again overtop the same drivers .. it cures many issues

use 1 bridge

make sure Cat AI is set to 'advanced' under 3D settings - never disabled!

After you reinstall your driver look in CCC .. you should have 2 linked adapters in information tab under HW

try running 3Dmark06 and a few benchmarks maybe - or use Fraps - now and compare after [or remove 1 card] to see if there is a practical difference

in most games CF is noticeably faster than with a single card

test more than one game

and physically remove one card to note differences
