Crossfire with different cards?

I just built a new PC a month and a half ago, and at the time I got one video card with the intention of ordering a second around this time. Well, now I can't find the exact card anymore; it's deactivated/sold out/etc.

Can I get ANY 6950 and have it work just as well? What should I avoid? Should I just not bother?

You can use any 6950/70 like the other poster said. If they have different stock clock speeds, they'll default to the slower speed. Just match up the vram amount.

Any 6950 will work. Just try to make sure they have the same clocks unless you plan to go out of your way to set them using an OC tool.

i think you can even have different vRAM amounts, but it will limit total vRAM to the least one.

Yep, for example if you use a 1GB card with a 2GB card, the 2GB wil be gimped down to 1, which is a waste. That's why I said to match 😀
