Hmmm ATI promo benches lacking framerates, settings, and hardware.

That settles it! I'm waiting for Crossfire!

LOL

(BTW- the reason I'm laughing, if you didn't guess, is what if the "60% faster at NFSU" is at 20X15 4X8X and Crossfire is running at 16fps and SLI at 10?

Vaporware merchandising in the absence of product, worthless.

I have a question about Crossfire. If someone were to buy two PCI-E X800 Pro cards today, would they be able to use them on a mobo with Crossfire, or would they need updated X800 Pro cards?

Edit - Never mind.

They would need one new card, because you need a special "master" card with Crossfire.

Yeah, I just read about the cards in the article and edited my post accordingly.

Oh well, it's all very interesting... however I'm going to go back to playing BF2 with every setting maxed on my GTX. Happy posting.

Yeah, no settings posted, no FPS shown, and ATi's man-creature Ruby hanging out in the background of the graphs; I'm sure this is a well rounded, unbiased review. You do realize it's just ATi PR material republished on that site (they even say so themselves)? Besides, multi-GPU performance on R4xx is useless, considering anyone can go buy a 7800GTX at ~550 and the MSRP of the x850 CE card is the same...it's a no brainer, really.

Where are they basing their source from?

Cross fire indeed looks sweet, but the perforamnce part i dont quite accept it as the truth.
Anyway, rumours that cross fire cant handle games at a higher resolutions, and hence the reason of crossfire benching only 1280x1024 from certin review sites a while back from now, although it is still not released.

But ... *drools* X850XTPE cross fire..... If only they had S.M 3.0... and maybe HDR, but still it looks that damn awesome.

One problem. Next gen games will use S.M3.0, with maybe fall back to S.M 1.1, but.. i wonder if this would hurt ATi since some games might actually only use S.M 3.0 depending on the game developer..

SLI2... that sounds good too.. :D

They also said it would be late, and again, and again. Oops I forgot to say it'd be late again, and again... And probably again.

shouldn't you be playing a game or something ;)

He never plays any video games, you should know that. He just goes around telling people that he COULD run the games faster than they can.

I played two levels of Serious Sam yesterday, and 45 minutes of UT2004. How about you?

Can you accurately list them? Are you counting? See, the reason I'm asking is, the chance of ATI and Nvidia having the exact same number of paper releases since the beginning of each company is remote. But you still just blurted it out didn't cha. Or did you mean in the last few hours?

What's the 7800GTX SLI for, then? Don't tell me next-gen games.

what resolutions do you run these old games at?
. . . i am playing some really old games - Thief 2x [the awesome 13 level expansion for Thief 2] and System Shock 2 with the updated hi-res packs and 8xAA/16x AF . . . . no 'jaggies' and looks pretty good for '99/'00 games. :)

As to Xfire vs SLI2 . . . we'll just have to 'wait and see'. ;)

I'm running those games at 19X14 4X16X for Serious Sam and 19X12 4X16X for UT2004. They look good and run fast.

As far as I know they have the same number of paper releases your right I didn't check, my main point was it isn't fair to lable R520 or crossfire a paper release because they have not yet been released so you can't make any conclutions about them (a poor move in my opinion but thats beside the point).

To play every game I have at the highest settings possible? LOL- BTW- what do the games I played yesterday have to do with my video cards? I played Riddick the day before, and recently installed SC:CT as well. Do you think I can use my cards on them?
