Hello,
I'm trying to use crossfire on the game Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena.
When I enable crossfire, the game doesn't launch. When I disable crossfire, the game launches fine.
Any suggestions? I tried some options in AMD VISION Engine Control Center (i.e, CCC), and went under the Gaming option for 3D Application Settings. I scrolled down to the AMD CrossFireX Mode for 3D Applications, and tried changing the selection from "Default Mode" to "Use AMD Pre-defined Profile"
However, the option to "Use AMD Pre-defined Profile" for CrossFireX Mode does not include this game. I didn't see Doom 3 listed either (thinking maybe I could use that setting as I believe Dark Athena uses the Doom 3 engine).
So could the issue be that CrossFire should just work in Default Mode, without having to use a pre-defined profile? I've never run crossfire before, but I want to avoid trying each and every application profile because that would take a long time, and is possible unrelated to solving the problem.
Details: 12.1 drivers, with an AMD HD 5450 running in hybrid crossfire mode with 4290 integrate graphics. The game is playable when just using the 5450 in non-crossfire mode, but I wanted to see if the hybrid crossfire would improve performance in a noticeable way or what.
Is there a good troubleshooting strategy when trying to get a game to work under crossfire? Could it be that the problem is this is hybrid crossfire and not vanilla crossfire? I originally was running on the integrated graphics 4290 with the 12.1 driver. When I installed the 5450, the driver didn't magically assume the new card, and I got a message that I needed to install the AMD driver. So, I uninstalled the old drivers, rebooted, then reinstalled the 12.1 drivers. Everything was recognized, and an additional Crossfire dialog came up where I confirmed that crossfire was to be enabled. I can run SC2 in crossfire without running into any issues, so I think the drivers are set up properly and the problem is Dark Athena.
