What excellent first posts you have, they are all "Help me plz, I can't figure out what parts to get". Rather than breaking them into separate threads(like you did) for each section you could have just made one thread in general hardware with "Plz help me I'm clueless and don't know anything about what to choose for my new computer" because at this point, I would have to agree with the above poster you haven't done any research of your own and just signed up here. So I'll just give you a nice hint because I'm feeling nice.

Course not, way too Ultra and BFG Bias 😉 (of course I'm j/k).

It was a quote I had put in one of his other 5 threads asking the same stupid questions really(which was basically just help me just stuff cause I didn't look into it myself which started in video card section)

That said... I think OP should get a BFG 800W on sale at Buy.com for $84.99 AR ($114.99 before) and free freight!

It doesn't matter what his actual power requirements are! 😀

EDIT: There's a degree of tongue-in-cheek in this post that if you don't get, please just go over to Tom's Hardware for a while or something...

Yay Tom's Hardware....better than porn 😀

Sorry guys for chewing you to pieces ...not my fault im a noob when it comes to techy things but i was just confused to why some descriptions says sli ready or crossfire ready> i thought power supplies just powered up the damn thing lol but when i read on saying things like quad rails cable management and sli ready does this mean i wont be able to use crossfire with that particular psu? All i want is a ultra quiet power supply that can power a x38 MoBo 2 sapphire hd 3870 512mb and the intel qx6600(quad core) using a 32" lcd for gaming etc-multi purpose

Crossfire-ready and SLI-ready are essentially marketing gimmicks that are supposed to help sell the PSU. If a PSU can supply sufficient power it doesn't matter which label or it carries, or if it even carries one.

Edit: Fixed silly typo.

You mean "GPU."

An SLI certified PSU works with Crossfire and vise versa. License agreements with the trademark holders prevent PSU's from being both SLI AND Crossfire certified.

And the certification means little... except for that you're not getting a complete POS (a Deer or Codegen isn't going to do 8800 GTX, for example.) But not EVERYTHING is sent to either Nvidia or ATI for certification.

Oops, I actually meant PSU. It also helps sell GPUs by throwing the name out there I suppose.

marketing gimmicks -- hardly...

probably not necessary to go that high.

two ati 3870's in crossfire use less juice than an 8800GTX Ultra so that should tell you something.

I just realised your right the ATI crossfires are more energy efficient than the nvidia series so ty for your comment

WURD!! i only wish that the 2900's had smae power consumption as the 3870's then i coulda saved like 100 bucks
