Hi all,

I wanted to crossfire a 4870 in my older computer, it's an Asus model with 512MB memory. I can't find the 512MB Asus 4870 anywhere anymore, and wanted to know if it will still work okay if I use a 4870 512 made by another vendor. Does anyone have any experience doing this ?

Thanks! :)

Should be perfectly fine. I'm about to do it with my Palit X2 and a Diamond X2.

I tried to do it with 2x 4850 (Vistiontek and Asus) and couldn't get it to work. Granted, I have an older 975X chipset board, but the Asus manual for the board clearly indicated that Crossfire was supported, but it was written during the X8xx series card run. However, I had always heard that as long as the cards are the same model it should work.

I've done it with 4850's, 4870's, 3870's with a variety of x2's mixed in for good measure. It worked fine each and every time.

My only issue was with the heat on the inside card.
