Crossfire issues, one gpu gets no workload

Just installed my second HD6850 but can't get Crossfire to work properly. The cards are correctly plugged in to a Crossfire-able motherboard (MSI 790FX-GD70). The crossfire connector is also correctly and securely plugged in.

I reformated all my drives and installed a fresh copy of windows 7 64bit. After running all Windows Updates I installed Catalyst 11.9 and CAP 4 11.9 in that order.

Starting up Vision Center tells me that Crossfire is enabled. GPU-Z reports Crossfire is enabled. Still, I get no workload on GPU#2. I've tried 3Dmark11, Dawn of War 2, Bad Company 2 and 3Dmark Vantage - all which should have working profiles - still GPU2 gets no love.

Suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Are you running those programs in windowed mode?

No, fullscreen.

EDIT: So I went for the 11.11 preview drivers instead and now Crossfire is working in 3Dmark and Bad Company 2. Gonna try Battlefield 3 tomorrow.

Sounds like your first Catalyst installation didn't take. There was nothing fundamentally different in 11.11 versus 11.9. Odd, however, that it was showing that catalyst was enabled in the CCC.

Anyway, if it's working, that's great, otherwise there are a few other things you can try, so let us know.
