Here is a picture of X850 master card. Notice that it looks like most of X850 cards, but just has two DVI outs.

One of those is not a DVI... That being said, I think these pics are legit.

there is some very funny distortion around the edges of the pictures that makes me unsure of their authenticity

What a ghetto voodoo2 style cable gimme a break, nvidia's solution is mucho better.
And i really hope ati improves their mobo chipsets, they perform worse then sis and via.

Whats wrong with SIS/Via.

Via makes excellent stable chipsets.

If your speaking in terms of overclocking, then there may be some differance.

nothing in the inquirer to encourage me to go dual graphic cards. Now a new g70 or r520 might be worth it, if they ever get released. I am still trying to figure out what a ghetto style cable means?

You know, ghetto, like Evans & Sutherland systems costing tens of thousands of dollars

Unlike the actually ghetto 3dfx bodge which relied upon analog pass-through to degrade their industry trailing IQ even more. :p

The ati chipset performs around 10-20% slower in games compared to the top end intel/amd chipsets, thats the problem.

Looks good. I hope they've also made improvements to the chipset to bring performance up nforce levels, or better. For the chipset performance to be poor(er) in everything else other than gfx performance would be disappointing.

Two R520 in crossfire config! Sweet! I get excited just thinking about it! But let's wait and see what real world performance is like.

That's funny. When ATI's new RS480/RX480 chipset was reviewed on Anandtech, they had this to say about it:

For their first effort at an AMD Athlon 64 chipset, we can only say we are beyond impressed with the ATI RX480/RS480 chipset. No matter how we compare the performance the ATI RX480 is competitive or a bit faster than the best Socket 939 boards we have tested at AnandTech.

Perhaps you can tell us where your "10-20% slower" numbers are coming from?

His ass?
And if Crossfire improves performance more than SLI, the slightly lower performance of the chipset may be more than made up by the increased performance of the Crossfire system vs SLI.

Although of course we will have to wait for real numbers.

Thank you for that insight. Now I don't have to waste time reading reviews or comparing specs. Armed with the knowledge that ATI uses a "ghetto" connector, I can go forth and buy nVidia parts knowing that my money was well spent.

I still don't understand the ghetto comment. The only time I heard that used was in conjunction with (at the time) high tech portable music boxes. They sounded good, looked good and used very little power. So I guess ATI has a winner?

Rumours are that Crossfire will work for all games without driver specific code. If so, it's going to compete well against NVidia's SLI.

i wouldnt get too excited over the so called performance, they say ATI have conducted the tests, so obviously its gonna pick stuff that beats nvidia

Super AA should also be nice for older games.

LOL- I think he was trying to say running external jumper cables between cards is a poorly engineered design.
