Crossfire HD7950 and R9 280?

I recently built my system with the intent of using a crossfire/SLI setup. I bought a Sapphire HD7950 Vapor-X OC Boost Edition and I was wondering if it was compatible with a R9 280. Also if it's crossfire capable what is the best performing 280 card?

Yes. Same physical chip means they can crossfire, so your 7950 can crossfire with any 7870 XT (NOT THE STANDARD 7870), 7950, 7970, R9 280, or R9 280X.

SLI is more particular and will require an exact match in memory size and card type. You can SLI cards from different vendors though of course

Edit: Apparently you can run a 2gb card and a 4gb card together, but the 4gb card will only run at 2gb to match.

Yes. nVidia doesn't even allow the same card from different gens like the 680 and 770 to be SLI'd.
