1. Pc will be mainly used for gaming/multi tasking
2. Budget i would like to keep it 1700-1800 cdn
3. Canada i shop at ncix.com
4. Brand preference , for mobos : asus , video cards evga for nvidia , ati HIS or diamond.
5. only parts i plan on keeping keyboard/mouse/lcd screen/headset
6.i read some threads but i want some opinions on the build that i picked
7.overclocking isnt a huge deal , i dont plan on to oc for a while so no big concerns there.

my current pc is
amd 64 3800
2 gigs of ram
evga 7900gs ko
300 gig sata drive
asrock dual sata2 939

this is what i considered for a crossfire build since cheaper then a sli build
Mobo : Asus P5k-e wifi-app xfire mobo
Ram : 4x1 gb crucial ballistix pc2-6400 ddr2-800 cl4-4-4-12
Case: Antec p182 black
PSU: OCZ gamexstream 850watt
HDD: Western digital 500gb sata2
DVD drive: samsung sata burner
Video cards : 2x Diamond viper radeon hd 3870
total of that is 1672$ cdn

i am thinking bout sticking to xp as my os , but i am willing to upgrade to vista

i just need some advice on the build

the only other thing i thought about is replacing the 2 ati cards with a single 8800GTS 512mb
but will the evga 8800gts 512mb work on that mobo?

You won't need a 850 watt PSU. Find a good deal on the Corsair 620. I don't see any reason why the video card would not work. Good luck with your build.

I note you haven't included a CPU in there. That PSU is overkill, get that Corsair 620. If you aren't overclocking your RAM, you don't need Crucial Ballistix. The 8800GTS would also work.

oh sorry cpu : E6850
and i`ll change the psu
about the video cards is a single 8800GTS fine
or should i spend the extra 60 buks to get the 2 crossfire cards?

my main question is
since the motherboard is crossfire and its only 60 buks more then a 8800GTS 512mb to crossfire 2 3870`s
will i see a nice boost in performance and so i can game run games like cod4/unreal 3/
on very high on 1440x900

2 3870's in crossfire destroy 1 8800gt Its pretty much better all the time if its only a 60 dollar difference I would definitly get 2x 3870 vs 1 8800gt

Honestly, I wouldn't say it's really worth the extra $80 for the E6850. Go with the E6750, and you might not even notice a difference. The E6750 no doubt has enough pep to play any game for a while to come.
