Hello,

.I am searching for the best price/performance graphic card
.My monitor resolution is 1280x1024
.You need to consider my prices:

Sapphire 4850 - 202 U.S. dollars
Sapphire 4870 - 313 U.S. dollars

Nvidia its out of question, 2 expensive.

.I want to use crossfire (2 graphic cards)

And my question is:

I saw in many websites that the crossfire 4850 VS crossfire 4870 as almost the same fps at 1280x1024 resolution. Do you thing i would go for the CF 4870 that would cost me more 222 dollars than CF 4850?

I think it's quite pointless to do CrossFire 4870s, when the upcoming 4870 X2 is supposed to be priced at $499, and it's supposedly faster than two separate 4870s CrossFired together.

Wait for the x2, or just get 1 - 4870 it will be good enough for 12x10 for many years.

Even 1 - 4850 is more than fast enough for 12x10 for current games, it's very good up to 16x10 and even 19x12 for some games.

The only reasons to get the 4870 instead of 4850 are for Crysis and to make minimum framerates higher.

Seriously, for 1280x1024 you have no need for dual cards, you might not even see any benefit compared to a single card because you'll be cpu-limited. One 4870 will run pretty much anything at max settings for the next few years at that rez.

+1

One 4850 would suffice as well, if you have anything else you'd like to spend $100 on.
