Not at all Skoorb. Better brakes provide better modulation of stopping power without locking up. That's the whole idea of them. Even the crappiest of brakes can lock up, true. But they'll go straight from poor stopping power to locking up with nothing in between and little ability to control the difference. Getting more stopping power before lock up and a better ability to control that stopping power is why people upgrade their brake systems.
And then there are the advantages of reduced fade, etc.
Really though that's of negligible consquence to somebody with ABS who takes their car only on the road. I know some people hate ABS, and sometimes they probably hate it just so thay have an excuse to use a big brake kit :) I read a nice long thing on how on many cars getting big brake kits, it's buggaring up ABS, because those sensors are finely tuned to an approximate braking power, and larger/heavier/lighter, etc. wheels can also change things. Problems are especially accute when somebody slaps on a high grip kit on the front and forgets about the back.

Don'tk now about you guys. but its happend to be often, that my breaks heated up so much I had my foot to the ground and the car wasn't stopping because they got so hot. I don't race with my car either. I've had many other people tell me the same thing. So its not just my car.
I would recommend to stop tailgating and/or driving a high speeds around mountain passes so much :)

Isn't it suspect when somebody's got a kit on their $25k sedan with more gripping power than something you get on an M3 or something? I think so.

Huh?

I'd simply recommend getting better breaks.

If you're burning out your brakes with regular driving to the extent that you can no longer reach the threshold of tire grip there is something wrong with either your driving, or you car--and I don't mean "stock brakes suck" wrong, I mean look into your braking system.

No need for those on a street car. Especially stay away from the drilled ones because they'll crack easier. If you just want the look then go for the slotted - or some companies are coming out with a slotted and dimpled rotor.
