I bought some Cronuts on Ebay for $20 each and am willing to part ways with them for $60 each + shipping.

:sneaky:

Obviously these are only found in a small area of NY for now and out of my reach, although copycats are popping up. With the high margins involved, its not surprising. In fact the word "Cronut" is now trademarked:

Good video about the Cronut:

I wont tell them if you wont. ;)

We should really jump on this - create a Cronut machine, like one of those Dollars-to-Donuts machines they have. We'll be rich! :D

Hah, memories - our street was split growing up. The kids down the street were in a different Scout troop than I was. We did car washes and they got a Dollars-to-donuts machine. Yeah...we went camping in the mud and they went jet-skiing, if that's any indicator of ROI :D

You might be on to something. But can we modify this to make Cronuts? Hmmm....

I had to google is to see what the hell it was and a mix between a doughnut and croissant sounds kinda nasty.

Sounds like a dry flaky doughnut to me.

But sounds like people need to get off their ass and make them but with a different name as the name he calls them is horrible. :p

But sounds like people need to get off their rear and make them but with a different name as the name he calls them is horrible. :p

One of them I saw had Bavarian cream in the middle, sort of like a Boston cream.

That would be kind of awesome...or if the pastry was sweet, like a breakfast pastry instead of an actual croissant.

The 100+ people waiting in line for a CHANCE to buy one disagree with you.

O&A were talking about it the other day. Guy fancies himself the next Soup Nazi by the sound of it. The fool doesn't make enough to satisfy demand. In a place like NYC, you've gotta milk it before the next fad comes along.

They look easy enough to make. He's got the trademark on the name. All you gotta do is call them something else.

He should really license it out, or else set himself up as the central distributor. In today's era of instant popularity through the Internet, you can really blow your business up overnight.

Reminds me of that one commercial where they click the "launch" button on their online website and start cheering when the orders start coming in, then get quiet as they keep coming in, then start crying when they get really high and they realize they can't keep up with the demand :D

According to various sources it takes roughly 3 days to make a cronut. Hardly sounds simple. Frying pastry dough is not easy. At least not if you want it to hold together.

As for IP, he has the trademark and what appears to be several trade secrets (recipe, oil temp and time, etc.).

This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Any hipster douche that pays money for OMG HYBRID DONUT needs to get beaten by my Nailbat.

It's a cross between a baseball bat, and a baseball bat with nails in it. I patented it. It takes roughly three minutes to make one.

A donut is great
A croissant is great

I don't think that combining them would produce something better than the sum of its parts.
