I like it - nice choice of colors. The nav bar fonts could be easier to read though - that's just a lil small/squished for my tastes. Same with the fonts of the 3 boxes up top.

the left nav is hard to read and doesn't have visual prominence the java scrollie thingie kept my focus, i didn't realize there was a site navigation until i was ready to leave

Clearly amateur.

* Too much drop shadow
* Improper font alignment and size. The font you chose sucks too. Fuzzy.
* Goofy tag line "Where winning results always count."
* Stop scrolling stuff it makes people want to leave.

Use a different font in the menu bar.

Yeah, I thought so too. But this is what they wanted.

Well if they want a hard to read menu then let them have it.

its not that bad at all. If the client is happy, I would feel comfortable letting them run with it. I do think the font needs to be bigger (10% or so) if not different in the left navigation, but thats a minor issue. I think layout is good.

I only used shadows when the text went over an image and it would've been hard to read otherwise.

Agreed.

Client's line, not ours.
* Stop scrolling stuff it makes people want to leave.
Again, they insisted. I appreciate your criticism though.

on the contact page, i would swap out the BOLD requirement with a single asterik for phone number that footnotes to "not required" Even though its clear that the phone number field is not required, it makes the form look inconsistent.

Good point. Problem with that is, that most times asterick means REQUIRED. People may not read the footnote. Maybe I'll just put (optional) after the phone number.

It looks weird at high resolutions (i.e. I'm looking at it at 1280x1024 and it's just this little box of color and text in the middle of a big blank white page).

Regular old buttons are so 1990s. You could make a nice custom-palette transparent GIF or something.

Why is the "Winning" part of the image of the site name gray while "Portfolio" is black? One would imagine you'd want to emphasize the "winning" part of the name...

Doesnt fit on 800x600 screen without scrolling: -10pts
Crazy pixilation on the menus: -20pts
java scroller: -5pts
Crappy things at top look like buttons and aren't: -7pts
not XHTML: -5pts
Misuse of whitespace: -5pts
Dreamweaver: +5pts
Colors: +5pts

Total(out of 100): 58, you failed.

I'm running Firefox 0.8 in Linux, and the homepage looks funny. There's a horizontal bar a few pixels high missing from the main section. Here's a screenshot.

That's their logo, I didn't mess with it. Thanks for taking the time, man. :)

Too many colors
No consistent theme
There are too many elements on the front page that ask for the reader's attention. So it really does feel like a massive popup

looks nice :)

few crits though

1. Jpeg artifacts in the "member area" button, change to png or gif to fix

2. The whole color sceme, there is at least one too many colors there, better to use a 2-3 primaries and then shades of the primaries, right now we have red, green, gray, blue and orange

thats the biggest that I see

:)

EDIT: Oh, duh, you were referring to the other part of my post... in that case, I was talking about the "Submit" button under the username/pass text boxes.

We are redoing the menu and the top images. They got really badly pixelized somehow... not sure how. Thanks.
