It's not a list of the 100 best guitar players, it's 100 best solos. A solo is all about "feel", how it feels in the song, what it does. The best solo is not necessarily done by the best guitarist. They should not be ranked by skill level of the players.

I understand. I'd put Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms in the top 15. I'd put One in the top 30. I'd put Limelight and La Villa in the top 20. A GnR solo might make top 40.

Purple Haze should be #1. Nirvana should not be on it because Kurt couldn't solo for anything. Only two Beatles songs on the list and only one with a Beatle soloing. The End and Revolution should be on there. Anyway, these lists are opinion.

I was thinking Taxman could have made the cut, myself.

Needs more Dire Straits. Listen to Tunnel of Love by Dire Straits and tell me that doesn't belong in the top 100! The live version of Tunnel of Love and Sultans of Swing off the Alchemy CD is amazing!

Some of those look like afterthoughts. Rush - Working Man? La Villa Strangiato and Limelight are much better and should be in the top 20.

Freebird is too high and Metallica shouldn't be in the top 20.

WTF?! :| You gotta be joking me on that. They have some of the best gituar solos ever.

Serious. Satriani taught Kirk. Satriani > Kirk.

Zep, VH, Rush, Jimi, Randy, Satriani, Johnson, Knopfler, Floyd, Clapton, Vai all deserve multiple spots in the top 20. GnR is too high also. Hoey is nowhere to be seen. He should make the list.

Some of the songs on there are dead giveaways that guitarists put this together. And after looking, apparently the source for this is a Guitar World reader's poll from a couple years ago. All in all, it's a pretty good list.

That's not exactly my favorite guitar magazine, but considering what I think their demographic is now, it could have been a lot worse.

wait wait....where's Guns N Roses 'Night Train' that had a great solo, and even the outro was awesome on that song...that's gotta be better than like 20 of the entries on that list

Lot of crap in that list, such as 064 Prince - Little Red Corvette. WTF

I'd also add Joe Satriani Flying in a Blue Dream to that list. That is just a mindblowing solo.

No Black Label Society? Come on.....

But it's still a pretty good list with some great solo's in it. There's just a few that should be in there but aren't and a few that shouldn't be included at all.
