Major update to the site... tell me if you like how the map on the front page works

Despite the fact that it is slower then a 400lb man who just ran 5 miles, it looks great.

Usually these posts are some guy with frontpage asking for advice. I am very pleased to find that this wasnt the resuslt.

Looks good. I think I should add some stories sometime!

Dude that would be great! It's a site driven by user content.. and we are worried about getting enough of what I'll call "high quality" content 🙂

That's pretty good work -- professional looking, indeed. I noticed that there's no "remember me" checkbox? But I'm guessing that's not a good idea anyway, since people are going to be travelling and most likely using public computers.

I think having a "Home" link with your menu won't be too bad -- although I did sign up and noticed that the menu gets a bit cluttered when you're logged in.

Are you going to have ads later on? If so, you might want to allocate that real estate now, before the site gets too "big". Some website that start off as "ad-free" end up being an annoyance because of the placement of ads; I'm sure they planned its placement, but they seem as if the banner code was just "stuck" there.

When you're logged in, and you go to the landing page, should you really see the "Learn More" / "Sign Up!" areas? Also, the logout link is fine but with my resolution, it's really small. Perhaps you want to put another logout button in a more dominant space since people will most likely sign in from public locations.

Best of luck with the site! Don't forget the little people when you're rich and famous! 😛

Any ideas why we are not getting sign ups? We are getting a decent number of hits (100s) ... just not sign ups..
