Criminals may have been hired for census

Errors by Census Bureau employees may have resulted in 200 people with criminal records being hired to conduct door-to-door canvassing.

The Census Bureau typically takes fingerprints and performs background checks on workers hired to interact with the public. But a report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) found that tens of thousands of workers were improperly fingerprinted by bureau employees.

A criminal probably made and served me lunch today. I'd be more concerned about a criminal handling my food than taking the Census. Criminals are in *many* positions and professions. Are you going to tell me that someone who served 90 days or something on a pot charge should be barred from ever working again?

Murder and rape are a different story, but seriously, are we going to prevent people who served their time for non-violent crimes from getting their lives together and becoming productive citizens? There are good, productive people who would be out of work if that were the case.
