The person who moved in next door is creepy.

He has the eyes of a drug addict (glazed-over, dull, like there is no intelligent life below the surface).

He knocked on the door at 2 am the other morning, asking for an "emergency number" to call to get someone to help him get into his flat (he had, apparently, locked himself out). I said I don't have such a number. He said, petulantly, "Well do you have any tools?" No, actually, I don't.

Later I heard him bashing and smashing his way into his flat.

Just now he knocked on the door asking for sticky tape. I said I didn't have any (altho actually I do have some).

I don't like the fact that he breaks the unspoken rule of this apartment complex - which is don't speak to your neighbour unless absolutely necessary.

Maybe I am being overly judgemental - but something about him makes me think he is the type to break in and steal everything I own.

Then again - maybe I am one of those people who is destroying the fabric of society by being so insular and suspicious of people.

Has anyone else had experiences with creepy neighbours?

He probably thinks the same of you since you don't seem to have anything at all. :D

I don't think you're being overly judgemental or paranoid. God gave us instincts for a reason, and yours is telling you to keep your distance from this guy. I think it was smart of you to say you didn't have any tape. The last thing you want is this wierdo thinking you're the guy to come to whenever he needs something.

I say go with your instincts on this one. The worst that can happen is he thinks you're an ass and stops talking to you. And even if he does, you haven't really lost anything.

Unless of course he snaps and needs someone to kill............then he remembers the asshat that has proved worthless as a neighbor.

Anyway isn't aidanjm the one always preaching the love one another BS???????????//

We would prefer that life wasnt like this but some neighbors are dangerous, now matter how nice or expensive the neighborhood is.

OK......quit giving excuses for you being antisocial or just admit that you are.......

I don't want to talk to my neighbors because I don't give a fvck what is going on in their lives. No different that the chick in the check out line at the grocery store. I may ask "how are you" but I really don't give a fvck and if they reply with anything other than "I'm great/ fine" they have broken the unspoken rule. Don't give me the BS about making new friends either............most neighbors will never be "friends"..................

In my experience, neighbors get to know you, then get all nosey and all up in your business. I like my life nice and private, with friends on my terms. More convenient and safe that way. I'm too protective of my family and property to even let most people know where I live.
Sad, but times are different these days, unlike when I grew up, you'd just leave your house unlocked and nobody would bother you. :(

You have to seperate the two. I can leave my house unlocked and no one will bother me because the respect is there. Are we "friends"? No. Do we say anything other than hi/bye? Not really. Are we watching out for each other? Yes.

When I grew up, minus the nostalgia of "we were close knit", it was the same................
