I have a KIA minivan. The dealer sold Chrysler and KIA...when I got there, all stock was about gone, sales area closed, look liked a left behind ghost town. Dont know if they are going to continue just to sell KIAs, but it did not look like it, at least from that location. There is only one left in the Knoxville area out of four I think.

I fear these troubled times are not yet done. Sales still appear to be down. I saw a Hummer dealership with a banner 50% off on H3...

It's only just begun. From the rumors I'm hearing here in Motown, just wait until you see how the GM bankruptcy shakes down.

This area got nailed hard, four of the 8 chrysler dealerships got their notice. However, none of the GM dealerships did.

He also said it will not be done overnight and may even take a couple terms. But I digress... because the real issue is Bush.

It is going to get FAR worse. Europe is about 3 months behind us as far as economic timing goes in the car market. Usually the big 3 can depend on out-of-country sales to bolster in-country because usually either one or the other is doing well.

In this case, both are tanking, and neither have hit bottom yet.

We're current at a low of 9.5 mil / year (based on monthly sales). High was 17+ mil. Show me another business that could have it's sales fall 50% and stay there and still be in business.

On the bright side, I finally got a real job starting within the next month, and will probably need my own vehicle. Have to admit that I'm only willing to go with Ford if I go domestic though.

How is Bush the issue? We have a nation of idiots and people want to blame the presidents for our failures. We have people that make $20,000 a year and they want to buy a $375,000 house with an adjustable rate mortgage and they're surprised when they find out that they can no longer afford it. We have people crashing their cars because they're texting away. We have people who are hideously obese because they eat too much and don't exercise enough. That same group of people elected Bush... twice. He didn't just magically appear in the White House.

The issue starts with and ends with the people.

I don't recall much Conservatism being practiced in the last 8-9 years.

Yes, if Bush hadn't put down the precedent of trying to bail these idiots out, we wouldn't have had to pump billions of dollars into these business failures before realizing the correct course of action was to let them declare bankruptcy in the first place.

Something the free marketeers were advocating all along.

every single chrysler dealer in nashville, tn has folded. the only ones chrysler let stay open were the smaller dealers in outlying areas.

why? the cars on their lots aren't paid for. that's it.
