Creed sucks?

I have been wordering about this for a while now. Why exactly is there so much negative sentiment towards Creed? From a purely musical standpoint they sound like a normal radio pop rock band like nickleback or hoobastank but yet you do not hear nearly as much negativity about those bands. Because I have never seen Creed live in concert, I cannot attest to their true musical ability. Do people hate them because they just suck as a band or because of some other reason (i.e. people hating limp bizkit because fred durst is an asshole)?

I like a few songs from Creed. 4 or 5... rest of their music didn't do it for me. I don't hate them though... hate is a strong feeling.

Well, they were a fad. They were popular for a while, and like every fad, its now popular to hate them.

I'm surprised you haven't heard very much bad about Nickelback and Hoobastank, I hear people trash on them all the time (Nickelback mostly).

And yes, a lot of people hate Scott Stapp or whatever Creed's lead singer is. He's become an alcoholic loser or something. He had shown up to a show drunk and some of the fans tried to sue him and get their money back.

The rest of the band found a new lead singer and is now called Alter Bridge. IMO, whoever the new singer is (I should know who it is probably) sounds like a higher pitched version of the old one. They didn't change their music much from what I've heard.

You just answered your own question.

He is asking why normal radio pop rock bands don't get critized as much as creed. I think he agrees they ALL suck but what sets creed apart with more hatred for them than the other crappy radio pop rock bands?

So it sounds like most people dislike their actual music? IMO their new band is a notch or two higher (they actually have guitar solos in their songs) but still sounds exactly the same as the original.

Yup

Scott Stapp was a pompous ass who thought himself the second coming of Christ.

Alter Bridge > Creed

And yes that is what I was wondering. They really do not sound significantly worse than the other crap you hear on the radio. In my opinion at least.

he didn't show up drunk, he was on pain killers because he couldn't hardly walk.

anyway, it has always been the "cool" thing to do to bash creed.

they broke up, get over it people.

he didn't show up drunk, he was on pain killers because he couldn't hardly walk.

Then there was the time he decked somebody in a bar because the guy thought he was Eddie Vedder.

Creed and Nickleback are not as good as Hoobastank. Two completely different levels. Hoobastank is certainly no Zepplin, but they are much better than those two.

all of those bands are garbage. creed has just been in the spotlight longer/was more popular so there has been more time for people to say bad stuff about them.

Some people hate/hated Creed for their (supposed) Christian leanings also. All I know is that Mark Tremonti is ridiculous to watch - he's got some skills.
