Credit Scores & Reports

Is there any site in particular that stands above the rest when it comes to doing a credit check for the major three, TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax, and scores?

There are tons of sites to do credit reports on, and I was wondering if there is really one place, that is considered the best for doing this?

THANKS

Use the free website that the government pays for to get the reports. You have to pay for the scores though.

Edit: annualcreditreport.com, ElFenix posted it. You can stagger the 3 reporting agencies to monitor your credit report throughout the year with it.

FICO is Fair Isaac Corporation, their website is myfico.com

experian will also sell you the fico score with the 'plus score' product.

annualcreditreport.com is the website to get your score as of right as a US American. but if you request it the agencies get 45 days to sit around before correcting wrong information, rather than the 30 that is usual.

According to the site I just posted above it says:

Free FICO Equifax score upon sign-up

Scores are cool when you're ready to buy property, but I just want to make sure for now my credit is ok, BUT if I can get free FICO scores then why not...

You can get reports there, not scores.

I just saw on the Federal Trade Commission's site this info:

Q: How do I order my free report?

A: The three nationwide consumer reporting companies have set up a central website, a toll-free telephone number, and a mailing address through which you can order your free annual report.

To order, visit annualcreditreport.com, call 1-877-322-8228, or complete the...

Looks like annualcreditreport.com is the official site of the top 3.

AFAIK there isn't any free score website. I'm pretty sure all the ads for them are scams where they eventually ask you to front some money.

Annualcreditreport.com should let you get the reports for free.

Forget to ask, is it best then to go with annualcreditreport.com ?

THANKS

Why not, its free. You can pay $15 at any of the big 3 to get your FICO (and make sure its FICO, and not some 'power score' or other bs marketing product.) Personally I would never use the 'free' services, since I believe it opens up your credit file to their eyes, and perhaps their marketing customers as well.

The link you referenced is for monthly/annual credit watch subscriptions that cost >$10/mth.

There are free credit score websites. No I am not talking about credit reports.

Good thing you didn't actually post the sites that give free credit scores. Otherwise, your reply might have been useful.

er, right, that's what i meant.

Does anyone know if the reports from annualcreditreport.com have a negative effect on your credit score? I was under the impression that you are allowed to get a report and score once a year, for your records, without penalty.

No effect... and you are able to get them once a year for free. Self inquiries into your credit never have any impact on your score.

*edit* spelling error

Are you referring to report or score?

What's that? I looked at my credit reports when I was refinancing earlier this year, one of them had incorrect debt for me, I disputed it online, and it was gone the next day.
