Credit Cards are dangerous

1 - they lock me out of part of my account due to some fraud alert. okay, thanks.
2 - I am told that I cannot make any online payments and given a phone number to call.
3 - I am notified that I will need to pay a $15 for using a check over the phone.

ouch.

Was it a CitiCard? Mine was recently locked out for potential fraud/abuse, and have no reason why. I didn't have any odd charges though, so the only annoyance was that I couldn't check my balance/pay using the web until my new card came.

Some exec probably had his laptop with confidential information stolen when he passed out in a pile of coke while at the strip club, so the company sent replacement cards to everyone affected.

Ours too. There were no funny charges, but they swear it seemed fraudulent, so they sent us new ones.

Same thing happened to me...also a CitiCard user.

Yeah it's a Citi😛

I got competed but I had to call some random division to get someone on the phone and they processed it for me.

I could've used one of those infamous call center maps🙁 Assuming that they didn't lose a lot in administrative costs on this issue, they must be making a killing ($15/person for no apparent reason)

You know you had 30days to pay...what was the fraud alert?

I got it just days before my scheduled payment date. No details were given concerning the fraud alert.

This is the second bank that has done this to me🙁

<--doesn't have much for people to steal.... "JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!" 😛

I'd personally be more worried about a fraud alert on my account than the $15 they wanted for a check by phone.

I bet it was a fake fraud alert to keep him from making his payment on time, or to suckle a $15 fee to scare him into paying by phone.

Fuck them. I am sure it was the CC company scamming him.

I am trying to be calm about this but that seems quite plausible. I would think that that might be equivalent to at least 10% of many people's monthly payments.
