First, I have a Sonystyle visa/chase card i used to buy a ps3 so i could get $100 off. I don't know if this card is any good or not. If its not good, should I a)keep it, or b)cancel it?

Second, what card do you guys recommend I get? Preferably, i would like to get one from Chase bank.

Thanks!

Does it have a yearly fee associated with it? What's it's rewards? My bet is that it's a mediocre card at best.

I personally use a citibank student platinum. So-so APR but I've gotten tons of cash back since I've gotten it and never carry a balance.

What do you want out of your credit card? You have to decide that before you choose the best one for yourself.

If it has no monthly fee you should keep it and make sure it stays active. To keep it active you may need to charge something every once and a while, use it to pay for gas once every 6 months and pay it off immediately and you won't have a problem with it going inactive. It will help your credit score to have more available but unused credit.

Rather than do all that research, you can just have mine. It comes preloaded with about half the remaining spending limit, but you'll be able to look after that in no time I'm sure.

It even has a picture of me, which on the off-chance we look the same, you could pretend was a picture of you.

I feel like i would lose track and end up not paying it though, and i also hate yearly fees and probably wouldnt use things like the airport VIP lounge.

With another chase card, anytime i go and check my debit card account i can see my credit card account and pay it off too if i like.

What bank are you with? Sometimes they also have good rates on cards.

Keep the Sony one open as it can only help your credit. Opening lines of credit and always closing them looks bad in the future.
