Credit card fraud committed by my colleague

Around 5 months ago, an office colleague of mine bought himself a digital camera online using my credit card. He did not have one with him (only later I came to know that his applications to get one were rejected by every bank in town)

He promised to pay me back within a week, yet it took him 4 months to do so. The funny thing was even after me paying off the bills, I was still getting billed from the vendor site for various items I never bought.

I first registered a complaint with the law enforcement authorities and also the credit card companies and the vendor as well. Now it turns out that the address the additional items were shipped to belongs to my colleague. I confronted him and he admitted to steal info about my card and using it online without permission. He offered to pay me back the money in full.

The thing is that if I proceed ahead with my action, he would end up losing his job and also going to jail for sometime and if I do not do anything and take his offer of paying up the money, then I would stand to lose credibility and also a loss of credit rating.

So should I let him face the music or should I just take the money and withdraw my complaints?

Pursue it, there's no excuse for that.

Oh and the next time you buy something for someone use a one time use number.

Drop the dime on him. Identity theft is only one of the potential charges, along with fraud, theft, (maybe grand larceny) mail fraud, etc...DON'T forget to notify the credit card company and ask them to prosecute as well...

If you do not put him in Jail, he will find another person trusting as you are and then do the same thing.

You have to end it here and put him where he belongs. If he really learns anything, it will only be behind bars after he's had some time-out time to think about it.

turn him in. he did a crime and deserves to be punished. there is no excuse for what he did. He deserves jail time pronto. you don't need to lose credit status because of him. and next time, use a one time use number.

If there is any doubt in your mind about turning him in, why don't you PM me all of your bank account & CC #'s.

No, seriously, IMO it is critical to eliminate/avoid the fvckups you encounter in life, they will always find a way to drag you down.

If you let him get off scott free then you blew it twice, not once. Your office buddy is a total wank who has totally taken advantage of you, doesn't give a sh!t about you, and only offered to pay you b/c you "caught" him. You are a total chump and naive fool if you puss out and let him get away with this.
Your office buddy needs to get spanked!
