I see Creative has stopped providing updated drivers for Audigy 2 but has been updating XiFi fairly regularly. Should I expect any issues if I upgrade the video card to XiFi?

I'm using 64-bit Home Premium with an OEM X-Fi XtremeMusic and it's generally fine. I've seen some strange glitches (probably due to the fact that I had to use hacked drivers), but nothing a restart couldn't fix.

Hacked drivers? Sounds like issues haven't been resolved then :) I guess it would be smarter of me to wait till the next gen of cards are released to avoid any headaches

We shouldn't have to use hacked drivers. Creative should get off their lazy asses and hire a team of software developers to release some software to support their hardware.

I use X-Fi on Vista 64.
I am using the latest drivers released last week.

The microphone still does not work.

I do not use any software that came with the card. So, I cannot comment on whether the software works or not.

I have a 5.1 channel speaker setup, which works fine for music and games.

Some games need Alchemy, another software, to improve sound.

I have problems with Mics as well but on Audigy 2. I have to use the front box or the sound won't be picked up

I'm using an X-Fi on Vista x64 and have not had a problem in quite some time. The early drivers were rocky, but since 2.15.xxx I've never had an issue. They did release some new drivers last week, and it sounds like those resolves most peoples' outstanding issues.

ViRGE, I'm using an X-Fi on Vista X64 too. Using the latest drivers, can you get a microphone to work? I plug my mic into the flexijack on the card and it sees it as line in instead of a mic. Output with the X-Fi is fine.

My mic has been working great. And if that's the only problem you're having, I'd assume setting the recording device to Microphone would fix the issue.

Ultimately I gave up on the mic on x-fi and plugged my mic into my onboard audio.

I have no problem in Vista x64 with x-fi gamer, and Creative just released new drivers. All stuff (bundled supporting apps such as creative audio console) that are available for Xp are on Vista x64 as well.

Plus the upmix mode works great (stereo to 4 channels audio) ... where other sound cards fail miserably.
