creative x-fi or maudio Delta 1010LT

im looking for the best audio sound qaulity and the ability to speaker testing so I need a nice mic input

i own a audgy zs which is just okay, so it is time for a upgrade

I had a old maudio 5.1 a couple years back, but the drivers sucked at the time for XP,a lthough it sounded great

any user opinions on these two?

The X-Fi is a nice card, but it's still more of a gamer's card than an audiophile's card. I'm not familiar with the Delta, but I'm assuming that's an audiophile card?

What kind of speakers do you have? Do you have a nice mic?

It looks like the 1010LT is a totally different animal than the x-fi cards.

Do you need 10 inputs and 10 outputs? (I see the 1010 can be configured for 7.1 operation with those outputs though)

The audiophile 192 and 2496 are popular but I don't know about the delta.

I think Virge got the main point here... the X-Fi is a gamer card with really nice output, the m-audio cards are built around getting really nice I/O without good game support.

From experience vs the Aud4...Delta wins hands down and I forget about the Creative X-Fi's smoke and mirrors unless you want the card for gaming...

Have you actually heard the Delta? Is it significantly better as far as audio reproduction?

I think he means he'll be measuring speakers with a good mic.

Measuring frequency response graphs, spectral decay waterfall plots, THD, IMD, impedence curves, etc. Either he's a reviewer or he's trying to set up a speaker that works with his room the best.

In that case if you go with the XiFi, you ought to consider setting it to 44.1KHz sampling and turn off all the compression effects. Otherwise, go with a solid audiophile card. If you are going to offload this to a receiver, consider something cheap that can do bitperfect SPDIF output.

Yes and Yes it's hooked up @ my Partners Studio Puter and I'm using Aud4
