Sorry if this has already been posted.....

Creative is working on their next "big thing", the Creative Labs Audigy. It looks sweet, and I like the fact that it's gonna have firewire built into it!

Its about time they got off their asses and make a new product. I love CL but c'mon already, we need innovation.

I actually like the fact the soundcard industry moves a lot slower. Sound products in general are not as fast moving as visual products. I've enjoyed my SB Live for over 2 yrs now, I will probably buy the next CL card that comes out.

Yeah, it's a good thing that when it comes to sound cards, you don't have to upgrade every two weeks (or so it seems) like you do with video cards and other parts of the PC.

Really, unless you're a big-time audiophile, is the sound really that much different from one sound card to another on your average daily speaker? Probably a litte, but there's no way I'm going to give up my Santa Cruz anytime soon, unless new functionality (other than sound) is added.....

Still, this is pretty nifty.

according to some, the new Audigy sounds better than the Live! like the Live! did over the AWE cards produced before it...that would be something if it sounds that good...good enough to make me sell my Game Theater...probably not, but it would still be nice. it's about time Creative stopped spitting out new versions of the Live! and made something new...its their lack of innovation that has almost ruined the company...while they trickled out new versions of the Live!, other companies produced amazing cards with great feature sets such as Phillips, Hercules, and Turtle Beach. a new sound card to boost their bottom line can only be good for Creative (and the market as a whole)

Hmm, to spend $200-$250 on a sound card, or upgrade my mobo and get a 1GHz+ cpu for the same price?

Boy, there's a hard decision.

Check out this pic from HardOCP, there's no way I'd spend this much on a sound card :Q

HardOCP - Creative Audigy Pricing/Spec Sheet

Especially the fact that I live in Canada, that's just a little too much for my liking, I'll stick with SB Live! Value and my custom made "Live!Drive" (Complete with S/PDIF In/Out etc..)

I tell you what i want is a sound card that gives really beautiful sound and has an amplified headphone jack that can power pretty good headphones. Until that comes out for about $200 I am just going to stick with my stupid Soundblaster live Mp3+ 5.1

I heard it treats wavs and MP3s as seperate channels, so u can increase the MP3 sound but keep everything else low, if thats true, i'm in!

Not sure what you mean by "beautiful" sound, but the Santa Cruz and Game Theatre XP both have amplified headphone jacks.

I like the look of the Audigy but apperently it has SDMI built in at the hardware level. I don't like that...no more MP3s for you! (SDMI is Secure Digital Music Interface or something to that effect, it controls what MP3s and what not you are allowed to play).

We've reached the end in terms of sound quality... All that's left is to provide features their cards.

You don't need a $200 Audigy to get DTS and DD 5.1.

All you need is any 6-channel soundcard that WinDVD 3.0 supports. A $40 6-channel CMI based soundcard will do this just fine. SPDIF digital output on $10 soundcards.

In fact, there are audiophile level soundcards priced in the $150 range now, so I wonder how Creative is going to justify the $200+ pricing?

SDMI built in? Well, that's the end of that one! :| I'm not about to put any cash into some device that restricts what I can and cannot play on it.
