Creative no longer sux?

Holy Moly, Creative Support actually came through!

I got a Sound Blaster Live! Platinum 5.1 to replace what I thought was a misbehaving Live! card - someone told me the newer cards work better. Imagine my utter pissedoffness when the Platinum did the same thing. Oh yesm and the Live! Drive was kaput.

After contemplating throwing the whole shabang out of the Window, I made use of the tech chat feature at Creative Support, took all in all two frustrating days but I think the problem is licked, thanks to the tech's recommendation that I downgrade my motherboard BIOS. My system has (so far) been stable, and has not locked up during a game yet.

Just thought I'd post because I know VIA KT133 boards seem to frequently disagree with Live! cards...

Shame the Live! Drive wasn't working - but apparently there's another one on the way. As soon as I get it and it all works, I'll be a happy bunny...

Wow. That could explain a lot.

I have a SB Live card and an A7V133 motherboard, and my system is pretty stable. A teeny-bit crashy, but what Windows 9x system isn't? I've read a bunch of people with this KT133 problem say they updated the BIOS and this didn't fix things, but older BIOS versions might. I don't think I'm using the latest BIOS version, that might be why I don't have this problem.

Creative's support has helped me before with an SB Live problem, though it was through the newsgroups.

At least VIA bothers to update their drivers more than once
every two years.

<< I said "if", i don't think either one sucks.:Q >>

Heh, you're not just saying that to amuse us SBLive
