Creative Labs settlement...

darn, zen and nomad's aren't included. creative has always hyped up their SNR ratings and almost all expert users know this. ironically, i still go back to creative time and time again, because their products do have one of the best sound qualities--just not what they advertise.

😕

ok let me put it this way. honda claims to have car with 400hp. comparable cars in that range average 250hp. car enthusiasts find out that the honda actually is only capable of 325hp, stock. people sue honda for misrepresenting their engines. yet i still buy the honda because it beats out the competition, in terms of horsepower. was that so hard to understand? (yes i know torque is a better indicator of the engine's power but i'm just using horsepower as an example.)

I understand your point, but you're still dead wrong (unless all you care about is gaming).

"Audigy Gamer purchased sometime last year. Thanks for the headsup! whattaguy"
ditto, from office depot during $22 clearance
hmm

Cant find a link on Creative's site for the settlement/$25 discount for new purchases. How much you wanna bet they'll keep it buried under hidden pages?

Mind pointing out where it says this? I'm trying to find footnote as I just see that the certificate is supposed to be used on their online store.

Ummm, you do realize Creative owns E-MU these days ?

Not that it's a bad card, but if you're a "Creative hater" it would be a tad hypocritical to buy.

LAWL

"Were sorry, here - buy another card of ours for a slight discount which dosen't even cut into our cost!"

Here is a link to the claim form for those who need it.

What amazes me about these class action suits is that the bottom feeder lawyers who settled the case get 6 figures, while the people actually affected basically get a coupon. :disgust:

I have an audigy platinum which I did buy to record stuff and all I get is the option to give them more money.

<-- me thinks they should send out a replacement with a current product.

You bought a audigy to record stuff?!?!?! Wtf were you thinking....

You can get a used or low-level new professional-grade card for the same price that will sound at least 200% better than any audigy pile of crap. The only thing audigies are decent for is gaming.

You can hook up a pair of monitors to a professional-grade card, and hook it up to a audigy on the same computer with the same settings and the audigy will have a slight hiss and aound like utter crap and lifeless in comparison. Creative rightfully knows they are charging wayyyy too much money for their consumer-grade audio cards, but there is a sucker born every day.

I don't get why people think the Audigy is anything but a gamers card. Just about all the reviews state it, and unless you didn't do your research and believe everything you read on the box of a product... Then you should have known that it's not intended for professional grade audio. As someone mentioned earlier.. a suckers born every minute.
