I found this on PW while searching for some new 5.1 speakers. Compuplus is selling them for $199.95+13.95 UPS shipping which is the cheapest I have seen,
but even better they are offering an exclusive (through Compuplus) $50MIR, good until 6/30/2003.

From the reviews I have read they have better highs but less bass than the 680's, which is great for me.
I have ordered from Compuplus a couple of times never had any problems, has anyone else?
They have a 7.10 lifetime Reseller Rating

These seem to be analog only.
:frown: Got me all excited.

From what I know, the quality should be fine while in analog. Digital output doesn't do much more beside maintain the signal in the digital form before it reaches the decoder (whether it is in the sound card or the speaker amp).
5.1 using analog cables should still be fine as long as the sound card supports it.

i dont see how this matters at all because it all has to be converted decode somewhere before the speakers

either the sound card does it or the digital decoder or receiver

its not like you can send a pure digital signal to the speaker themselves and listen

I have a set of Megaworks 510D's and analog is the only way to go (though they can be used in SPDIF digital mode) with these and I would trust my sound card to do digital decoding over computer speakers themselves anyday

digital does not always mean better anyway

anyway this is a flaming hot deal i paid $270 for my 510D's and it was well worth it

now i need to find someone to sell my 510's to :)

also the klipsch 5.1s are pure analog only and i would take them over the z-680's anyday as i would take the megaworks over the 5.1's anyday as well

Did I miss something?

digital output is only for if your amp has better dac (digital-to-analog) converters than your sound card does. all speakers are analog by their very nature. if youve got a very high-end receiver hooked to good speakers or a sound card with crappy dacs, then you want to use digital. but if youve got a audigy2 like i have, then its going to have better dacs than any digital computer speakers have.

Ok...OK....OK!!!

I bought a set of these...just could NOT RESIST!!!!!

At ~$165.00 a set, you really can't go wrong. I currently have a set of Altec Lansing 641's (200 watts, 4.1's, great bass, great treble, etc.) hooked up to the wife's/son's PC and I've been using a set of CHEAPO Altec Lansing 2.1's (that I bought at Sam's Club ~4 years ago for $99.00!). So it's my turn to get the great sound of high power and powerful bass back again on my PC!!

Thanks for all the HOT DEALS DUDES! I live by this board!!!

looks like this deal is near dead now...unless you want to order with 2nd day shipping. the rebate says it has to be postmarked by 6/30.

Postmark happens the second you hand it to your friend USPS worker at the post-office... so... still not dead yet.
