I actually still use my DXR3 decoder for DVD playback. Here's a mini-review from my experiences:

Pros: Excellent decoding speed + quality, both using pass-through and TV-Out. Dolby Digital 5.1 output is superb. Region and Macrovision crackable with zone selector. Beats paying similar $$ for a software decoder.

Cons: Pass-through cable completely degrades regular video quality - swap the cable in for movies, out otherwise. Included creative software sucks. Use Hollywood Plus drivers/software instead (identical hardware).
