Creative Labs Clearance

good find for cheap MP3 players. Too bad when I click to buy I get this:

CL_DATABASE:fOpenConn Method error '80004005'

[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

/error/500-100.asp, line 76

Creative's servers must be running their own sound cards with Vista. 😉

I'm building a simple Vista box for watching xvid, wmv and any other downloadable movie format. Will this Creative Labs Sound Blaster USB MP3 give me 5.1 if I connect it opticaly to my DD 5.1 receiver? I'm going to be using VLC or Windows Media Player 11 (with codecs) to watch them. Otherwise I need to find something USB only that will output 5.1 opticaly in Windows Vista.

Build a simple XP box instead

Yes as a vista user with a couple of Creative products, I would also suggest building a XP box as the previous user stated. (Creative has a forum and dedicated webpage for Vista, I would suggest checking that out). Linky

I got the same email on the creative stuff, lots of goodies, but then again... I'm using Vista.

Did anyone see a W on sale?

I could not find one.....wish they had one of those cheap.

Isn't the web cam vista the old Intel camera...there were a lot of people
paying $29 for them when they cancelled the design...nice camera just
older model..puts my 2 webcams to shame in bright light conditions.

If they do have one it will be a real refurb with perhaps only 7% off retail. Better to look for a deal for new one elsewhere.

How is the quality on the Creative products ?

i'd hate for it to fail after a couple of months.... especially the ones that use Microdrives

Ordered two sets of speakers on Tuesday. Arrived today and I only paid $4.99 for shipping in a massive box. Not bad!!

Seems to be about par with any other good brand. Plenty of forum complaints about bad headphone jacks, but that happens on any brand. I've had several of their products (soundcard, speakers) that have been going strong for many many years.

I picked up the Zen Sleek Photo (which I don't see listed right now but may come back) for $70, it arrived a few days later in full retail packaging. Appears brand new, supposedly was a refurb. I've only had it for days but I really like it so far. I'll probably get a flash based 2GB unit for my wife too, maybe one of the Zen V units.
