Creative GeForce2 or Elsa Gladiac ? Which is the better card ?

Between the Creative GeForce2 and the Elsa Gladiac, which is the better card for the same price of $260 ?

I did read Anand's review for both, but am confused between these two. I will not be overclocking the card in any way and would ideally like some game bundles. TV out would have been great for this price, unfortunately, that is not available with both these cards. (Anyways, I would need both NTSC/PAL output which very few cards provide).

Any experince as to which is a better card generally ?

I do not know about both cards specifically, but as most GeForce GTS's have roughly the same performance, I would look at Sowftware bundles.

I am happy with my Creative GeForce 1 in terms of picture quality, but, then again, so is Elsa meant to have HQ picture quality.

Ditto with what AMB said. As I'm sure you'll have noted from the reviews, the actual performance between the two is almost identical, so really it's down to you deciding which one suits you best in terms of price/software bundle etc. Both will be excellent cards though, you can be sure of that 🙂

Also you might want to consider Tech Support! Like they're not enough in here🙂 I have always had good results with CL and there staff! They have been good about part replacements too!🙂

This is one of the problems with buying online ! Most sites do not let us know the game bundle with the cards. I believe the Elsa has a self select game bundle where we can select 32-3 games at OEM price.

Does anybody know what game bundle comes with the two cards ?

I got my Gladiac from buy.com for $229.00 (the $30.00 off $150.00 or more coupon) and love it...works great and went from box-to-gaming in about 5 minutes, including a smoke break =)

...I called Tech Support from Elsa to check on the free software, as it still says waiting for authorization, they answered on the first ring and were very knowledgeable...big plus in my book....and the 6-year warranty never hurts, not that it will hold you over for that long, but shows their commitment to their products.

...just my $.02; keep the change!

My vote goes to the Gladiac. I haven't had any problems with it yet and most of my games have run properly. The game bundle consists for selecting two free titles (MDK2, Messiah....). You also get a nice 6 year warranty.

Well, there are no more buy.com deals around. And with their latest fiasco of the $50 off $50, I doubt if there will be any more new coupons for some time !!!

In Witheiler's BX-133 Vid Guide on anadtech (http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1270&p=7)

he says the Elsa was the only card that did not work with SLA enabled. Also it along with the WinFast did not make it to 148 FSB.

You say you don't wanna overclock your card, but if you want to overclock your CPU on a BX platform a CLAP2 is prob. better.

It can handle more FSB.

This allow applies if you overclock your CPU to high speeds on BX boards.

If you go by Anand's reviews...the Creative...The Elsa has a very long warranty if that interests you, and has a nice package along with it. They are releasing their 64MB very soon, if that interests you. If you go on raw features and the package (because the cards are basically identical), i would think the ELSA is a better choice. I know it's very frustrating, but all 32MB GeForce 2 GTS cards right now are basically created equal. Whatever card you choose, you will be happy with. Good luck.

Sov05 go reread the article the gladiac doesn't have SBA enabled in its bios and only failed at 148mhz. The winfast passed at 148mhz with SBA disabled. Word around the bbs also is that the CLA2 doesn't overclock as well as the Gladiac. Witheiler also demonstrated in that article that SBA makes no difference in realworld performance but does limit the max agpbus speed that it can operate at.
