Read the reviews at Newegg and Creative.

They make a lot of different headsets with Fatal1ty names, and it can get confusing. These require a decent sound card for best results. $30 is about what the normal price for these should be.

The USB version has the X-Fi Fatal1ty sound card built in, and frequently is sale price just a little more than this headset. New drivers just released within last few weeks work great.

How good is the microphone on this headset? I bought the Plantronics Audio 365 Stereo Headset on sale at Buy.com for $10 this Spring thinking it would be a decent replacement for my aging Sennheiser PC150's. Big mistake, the sound was fine but the mic was really really bad! I'm back to using my old Sennheiser headset which is getting pretty ragged around the ear muffs.

The consumer reviews are mixed but the 'professional' (used loosely) reviews that I read up indicated that the mic was fairly good and the sound quality can be decent-good but takes a bit of configuring. Otherwise its kind of muddy and bass heavy.
